Lift: Raising the Bar on Service-Learning Practice

This online tool brings the K-12 Service-Learning Standards for High Quality Practice to life through nearly 150 video clips and pdfs. Organized into modules that reflect the eight standards, the tool is self-navigable and customizable. Each element can be used alone or in a collection, helping you hone in on the service-learning standard of most interest to you, offer training to your local learning community, or select a developmentally appropriate video clip for use in your classroom.

Possible Applications

• Becoming part of a national dialogue on service-learning through the Generator School Network
• Introducing service-learning to teachers, administrators, school board members—even students.
• Providing rational for service-learning to administrators, school board members, community partners, or fellow teachers.
• Deepening practice with onsite professional learning community.
• Deepening practice as an individual.

I shared "The Lift: Link to Curriculum" videos and resources with 160 Curriculum Facilitators in Guilford County Schools this past week.
